Out & About
Workshops

 I feel very privileged to be able to offer workshops in many different places, both locally, interstate and around the world.

Most of my workshops are tailored around a particular embroidery technique, using a project (or choice of) designed and developed with a certain skill set in mind. Class sizes are mostly kept at max. 12 participants with a very strong focus on individual guidance to allow you to develop your stitching.

Intermediate goldwork - 'Sonnet'

In this two day workshop you will learn a variety of techniques used when attaching metal threads and purls. Sonnet is stitched using a different types of metal threads combined with coloured silk threads to create lines and fillings. Metal purls in different sizes and textures, beads and spangles are used to create the textured filling of the song bird's and delicate flowers.
To get the most from the workshop, I advise that you have a little experience working with metal threads and are comfortable working with fine threads.

Introduction to Or Nué
* Goldwork level 1 *

Or Nué is a metal thread embroidery technique, where metal threads are couched in place with coloured silks to create motifs and patterns. Careful placement of the couching stitches is important to achieve clear, crisp patterns and shading

In this one day workshop you will learn how to couch the laid threads in circular motion (also known as Italian Shading) while forming solid coloured areas and shading with your couching stitches.
The textured centre of both designs is created with a variety of gilt purls, spangles and silk threads.
NOTE: In this class you have the opportunity to choose between two designs: 'Lest we Forget' or 'Dainty Pink Daisy'.
