'MAY' - Silk shading
MAY was largely inspired by a an embroidered screen panel designed by May Morris named ‘Adelaide’ as a tribute to the wealthy Barr-Smith family. I have named my piece MAY as a tribute to this incredibly talented designer and needlewomen.
Silk Shading is also known as thread painting or needle painting. It is a technique where mostly long & short stitch is used to create smooth, gentle colour changes within a design.
MAY is an ideal project if you are familiar with the basics of long and short stitch and would like to stitch something a little more challenging.
