Stars of Winter is the perfect project if you have no prior experience with hand embroidery and are looking to get started with basic embroidery stitches.
Stars of Winter was inspired by a Scandinavian vintage pillow. I loved the simple flower shapes and the colour combination of crisp white and winter blues with little splashes of bright red and yellow. I made my Stars of Winter into a pillow, with matching borders and using using pale blue cotton/linen blend fabric for the outer edge and back. The size of the fabric makes the design equally suitable for a small bag, a zipped purse and will look really pretty simply framed.
