Goldwork Embroidery Kit

The embroidery design measures 10cm x 14cm wide (4" x 5 1/2").

The design for Joyous Dawn was inpired by a ceramic Art Nouveau tile. A pair of simple flower shapes worked in laid work and chipping sit on flowing stems around a shiny centre bud, covered in kid leather. Fine silks are used to add c olour within the gold and a variety of metal threads and basic goldwork techniques are applied to create texture and layers of reflection within the design.

The embroidery kit includes detailed instructions and everything you need for the embroidery.

You have option to transfer the design yourself using the full-size pattern in the Standard Kit or a Traced Kit where I will trace the design onto the silk for you.

This project uses some of the basic goldwork techniques and is ideal if you have little or no experience in metal thread embroidery.
The design is embroidered with a variety of metal threads, kid leather, spangles and beads with fine silks for added colour.

YOU WILL ALSO NEED
* 25cm (10") good quality embroidery hoop, both rings bound
* Good quality beeswax
* Goldwork scissors OR old sharp pointed scissor (don't ruin your good pair cutting metal)
* Pointed tweezers
* Weight or clamp
* Sharp lead pencil

Also helpful but not essential:
* Velvet covered board
* Dressmaker’s awl or mellor

The detailed instructions and diagrams will help guide you but you may find it handy to have a good stitch directory at hand – I always do.
