YOU WILL NEED for the embroidery 25cm (10”) square of white medium weight linen/cotton Soft cotton, Cotton a Broder no. 25 Needles No. 8 crewel No. 24 Tapestry 15cm embroidery hoop, inner ring bound Tailor’s awl Sharp embroidery scissors Fine water-soluble fabric marker ---------------------------------------------------- To make a pincushion or sachet YOU WILL ALSO NEED 20cm x 30cm wide (8” x 12”) piece of coloured cotton fabric Fibre-fill or wool rowings for a pincushion / lavender for a scented sachet Sewing thread
Cutwork is a technique where parts of the fabric is cut away to create open areas, that are edged with buttonhole stitch and often crossed with buttonhole bars. This little sampler is embroidered using basic cutwork techniques and eyelets. It can easily be made into a simple pincushion or scented sachet.
