Silk Embroidery Kit ~ OVER THE POND

Padded satin stitch in shades of bright turquoise is used for the dragonflies' smooth, brightly coloured bodies and the glittering wings and cheerful buttercups are embroidered in silk shading (or long & short stitch).

Over the Pond is designed as an introduction to silk shading (or thread painting) and is a great project if you are new to the technique or wish to practise your skills. The design is embroidered using mostly long & short stitch and satin stitch.
I was thinking of warm, lazy summer days with the buzz of insects in the air when I designed this piece with three dragonflies dancing over a bed of buttercups.
